Who We Are

As You Wish uses a team of talented individuals who can be pulled together to meet your individual needs.  If you need a jingle written, commercials  produced, graphics designed, sales training, management of a political or marketing campaign, or email marketing help, we have a team of independent contractors that we can bring together to get your job done.  This approach costs you less as you’re not paying for more than what you need.

Randi Thompson, owner, has been a media and government relations consultant since 1990.  Her first job was in Washington DC where she was a President Reagan appointee at the Department of the Interior, doing Congressional Affairs for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

She moved to the Department of Energy where she lobbied Congress on behalf of the Reagan Administration in support of the Superconducting Super Collider, high-energy physics laboratory.  She was asked to stay on under the Bush Administration (the only person in the Department to be held over) to finish the appropriations process for the project.

She left government for the private sector and continued as a lobbyist for the Super Collider, representing Parson Brinkerhoff. She also lobbied on behalf of utility companies during the Clean Air Amendments of 1990.

During Randi’s last four years in DC, she was the Executive Director of the Industry Association for the Super Collider, lobbying Congress on behalf of the companies building the project.  Her clients included Westinghouse, Martin Marietta, General Dynamics, Gruman, Parsons Brinkerhoff, SAIC, Lockheed, and other Fortune 500 firms.  (The project was killed by Congress two years after Randi left DC.)

She returned to Nevada in 1992 and started a government and media relations business.  She has managed political campaigns, coordinated fundraisers, and was hired by UNR to create PACK PAWS, a women’s athletic booster organization.  She worked as the media & government affairs coordinator for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Reno for 5 years but chose to leave to run for the State Assembly in 2004.

She is currently Nevada state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, the nation’s largest grass roots organization representing small business.  Her primary role is lobbying for small business at the state legislature.  She also serves as Associate Director for the Northern Nevada Network, and is Executive Director of Nevadans 4 Carbon Free Energy.

Randi has a BS in Journalism from the University of Oregon and is a graduate of Reno high school.

She is also very active in her community, giving her the opportunity to interact with the business leaders and decision-makers in Northern Nevada.  Her activities include the following:

Trustee on the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board

Co-host of Nevada Newsmakers, a statewide political news show

Board Member, Nevada Opera Association

In the past, Randi has served as Executive Director of Nevada Gifted & Talented, a board member and Board Member ‑ 1997‑presentPublicity Chair for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada, a board member of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, and has produced several concerts for her sister, Cami Thompson.
