You have likely seen Randi Thompson on Nevada Newsmakers, heard her on the radio, or read her column in the Reno Gazette Journal. Randi has been a media and government relations consultant since 1990 and active in the Reno community all her life.

Randi spent 10 years in Washington DC where she served as a lobbyist for both the Federal government and the private sector working on natural resource, energy issues and research projects.

She returned to Nevada in 1992 and started a government and media relations business.  She has managed political campaigns, coordinated fundraisers, and was hired by UNR to create PACK PAWS, a women’s athletic booster organization.  She worked as the media & government affairs coordinator for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Reno for 5 years but chose to leave to run for the State Assembly in 2004.

Randi wears many hats.  She’s CEO of the Northern Nevada Network, an organization of CEO’s in Reno.   She is Nevada state director of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s largest grass roots organization representing small business, and lobbies for small business at the state legislature.  In addition she is an independent consultant to a variety of organizations and companies helping them grow their business, fix problems, or increase their stature in the community.

Randi has a BS in Journalism from the University of Oregon and is a graduate of Reno high school.

She is also very active in her community, giving her the opportunity to interact with the business leaders and decision-makers in Northern Nevada.  Her activities include the following:
Trustee on the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board (2005-2013)
Co-host and frequent guest on Nevada Newsmakers, a statewide political news show (2005 – present)
